Construction Alert: Buffam Brook Conservation Area

Have you been to the Buffam Falls Conservation Area in the past couple of years? If so, you know that the bridge crossing Buffam Brook at the North Valley Road entrance to the conservation area has been showing signs of age with missing treads and rails. If you have been to the falls, you know that the steps that used to lead down to the falls have completely washed out. The good news is that the bridge will be restored to a safe condition and new steps will be constructed this fall. The bad news is that the bridge will be closed during construction from early fall to early winter. Exact dates are not yet known, but updates about the work will be posted on the town website. The Conservation Commission recommends that hikers use the Meetinghouse Road entrance to the conservation area at the Community Garden during bridge work.
