Open Burning Season

OPEN AIR BURNING SEASON - JANUARY 15 — MAY 1

SEASON PERMIT FEE – $15.00

Call Pelham Fire Department to arrange for inspection and permit before day of planned burn. Once approved,

  • Permits must be activated each day of burning by calling Pelham Fire
  • All fires must be at least 75 ‘ from any building.
  • Materials shall not be piled to exceed a height of three (3) feet.
  • Shall not exceed a width of ten (10) feet and not to exceed length of ten (10) feet.
  • Must have water source and tools near by
  • Adult must be attending to fire at all times
  • Have a cell phone handy and call 911 if fire gets out of control
  • Burning will be permitted only between the hours of 10:00 am and 4:00 pm Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
  • All Fires to be Extinguished / Completely Out by 4:00 pm

Note: In case of heavy winds or otherwise dangerous or environmental conditions, permits will be invalid as provided by law.

Materials Permitted to Burn:

Tree Branches, Brush, Cane, Driftwood, Forestry Debris

Materials Not Permitted to Burn:

Leaves, Grass, Hay, Whole Trees, Stumps, Tires, Plastics, Paints, Styrofoam, Household Trash, Motor Oil, Building Materials, Land Clearing for Building Sites.
