Joint training with the Western Massachusetts Technical Rescue Team
On Monday October 23, 2023, Pelham Fire participated in a joint training with the Western Massachusetts Technical Rescue Team in Pelham. A realistic mannequin was placed at the bottom of a ravine in the Buffam Falls Conservation area off of North Valley Road. Pelham Fire responded to the simulated call for help and found the patient, provided first responder care and called for the WMTRT to assist in victim removal. All of these skills were conducted at night time using only flashlights for illumination. The WMTRT used a series of ropes, carabiners, pulleys and other tools to remove the victim to a safe area.
